From an initial brief for just die cut carton, the project evolved and 1st Packaging were asked to manage the whole project.

From an initial brief for just a die-cut carton, the Ove Arup project evolved considerably, with 1st Packaging being asked to manage the whole project from packaging manufacture through to collation and worldwide distribution.

The final product was a comprehensive presentation and information pack consisting of several different components, each requiring careful consideration and coordination.
The outer case was an injection-moulded case made from 100% recycled polypropylene, providing a durable outer structure for the finished product.

Inside the case were six inner sleeves, manufactured from printed, fully coated folding box board. Each sleeve was designed to contain a collection of information cards, creating a structured and organised presentation within the outer case.

There were 27 information cards per sleeve, with the cards featuring high-quality, complex print and graphics. With multiple designs and variations involved, careful management of the production and collation process was essential to ensure that the correct cards were allocated to the correct sleeves.

1st Packaging also managed the complete collation process, including the packing of 162 card variances across the six sleeves. This required accurate handling and organisation of the different printed components to ensure that each finished pack was assembled correctly.
Our involvement extended beyond packaging manufacture, with 1st Packaging managing the finished-goods packing and worldwide distribution. What began as a requirement for a simple die-cut carton therefore developed into a complete packaging and project-management solution, demonstrating our ability to manage complex projects involving multiple components, print variations, assembly and distribution.
